Renfrewshire Motivated Schools Initiative
Trinity High School Pilot
The aim of this pilot is to improve the learning stances adopted by a group of pupils in a number of different classes and subject areas. The pilot will raise staff awareness of the impact that motivation can have upon the learning and teaching of both pupils and teachers in a classroom setting.
Staff volunteering to take part in the pilot will each select a small number of pupils from one of their classes who are in a negative learning stance and design strategies to help them move on to a more positive stance.
Before learning hooks are applied, a questionnaire will be used to gauge the motivational stance of each learner. These questionnaires will be used again at the end of the project to measure any improvements made. A control group will involve the same pupils in classes where discrete learning hooks have not been adopted. Anonymous questionnaires will be used to guage staff views on the project.
