Paisley Grammar
Renfrewshire Motivated Schools Initiative
Paisley Grammar Pilot
This pilot is looking at low-level disruption and possible future disengagement of S1 boys.
The aim is to improve engagement and behaviour and to facilitate early intervention and the involvement of pupils and parents in the learning process.
A group of S1 boys presenting low-level behaviour concern have been identified. Interventions based on the motivated schools materials will be developed at an individual pupil level. These interventions will involve teaching staff, pupils and parents.
Possible interventions will include:
· Motivated School training sessions for staff involved
· Workshops to identify pupils’ learning stances and levels of motivation
· Parent workshops
· Target setting with individuals and groups of pupils using solution oriented approaches
· Structured feedback to pupils
· Teacher mentoring
Anticipated outcomes would include a reduction in low-level disruptive incidences; better learning and attainments; more positive interactions with staff and peers; less likelihood of behavioural concerns in S3.
The pilot will be evaluated in a number of ways including attainment levels; attendance records; behavioural information; pre and post questionnaires to pupils, staff and parents; focus groups; class observations.
