As the Minister responsible for Schools and Skills I would like to welcome you to The Motivated School website. This website is a valuable source of materials on The Motivated School approach.
The Scottish Government is committed to supporting schools create positive and peaceful learning environments and is ambitious for young people to become successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors, and responsible citizens. We want all children and young people to engage with and benefit from the curriculum. Motivation is a key aspect of this, and practitioners who reflect on their own and their pupils’ motivation will bring positive benefits to learning and teaching.
This website offers all those working with children and young people information and tools to support the process of reflection and provides strategies to help pupils whose motivation for learning is not as positive as it could be. These strategies can prove to be very beneficial in reducing stress levels too. Schools will be supported in their use of these approaches by the Positive Behaviour Team, who have all received training in the use of the materials from Alan McLean.
